1. Visit to Summerland to look at their integration of ICTs, and sustainability of initiatives and staff development post cluster.
We had a great visit. Blair gave an overview of the school an showed us their vision

The school is extremely well resourced with stand-alone computers, laptops and cameras etc. and ICTs are embedded in all class programmes

We visited several classrooms, talked to children and teachers, and gleaned many good ideas.

2.Discussion around lessons learnt at Summerland, ideas gleaned and ways in which we can ensure sustainability in our schools.
These notes from the Wanganui Cluster provide some good ideas for discussion as will this continuum

SUSTAINING THE INITIATIVES
The group came up with several ideas for sustaining the initiatives of the past 3 years, both in schools and across the cluster.
Lead teachers will discuss them with their principals as they would require school-wide commitment and dates be planned for in 2008.

A. Continue having lead teacher afternoons with possibly visiting speakers/sharing/discussion around progress and ideas from each school
B. Continue the cluster share staff meetings once a term.

Schools have offered to take responsibility for both of the above for a term at a time :
Term 1 2009-Coatesville
Term 2 2009 -Long Bay
Term 3 2009 (the above plus a kids conference)-Torbay and Albany
Term 4 2009 - Glamorgan

It was suggested that one person from each school be responsible for organisation of the above, and ensuring that they be replaced if they leave the school.

Additional ideas for ensuring sustainability:

Schools have an ICT committee, including the principal
An ICT goal be part of the appraisal system
Future contracts include an ICT focus

3.Milestone 10 and a review of methods/progress with gathering evidence of improved engagement and achievement through current ICT interventions in our schools. This will then be discussed with principals in our schools.

Milestone 10
Notes for Milestone 10 can be found here

Lead teachers from each school have considered methods for gathering data. This will include student voice.
